NFL Tickets – Vikings and Saints Highlighted on 2010 NFL Schedule

Even with the NFL being one of the most unpredictable sporting leagues out there, the release of the regular season schedule each year always garnishes plenty of attention, and for good reason.  Though the schedule won’t provide a fan with a fail-proof blueprint to how many wins his/her team will end up with, there are still plenty of premier matchups that NFL fans are certainly going to circle on their calendar.  As with every year, the NFL has front-loaded the schedule with big-time matchups that will have fans itching to get the season underway.

The NFL season starts off with a rematch of the NFC Championship game between the defending Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints and the Minnesota Vikings, which was one of the most watched events of the postseason.  Though Vikings quarterback Brett Favre hasn’t committed to returning for 2010, all signs point to his re-joining the team for another run at the Super Bowl.  Played on Thur., Sept. 9 on NBC, the

Clearing Up the Nfl Playoff Picture

Clearing Up the Nfl Playoff Picture

Usually at this point in the regular season, most of us can figure out who will be in the NFL playoff picture; at least for the most part. However, with just three weeks left in the NFL regular season, the playoff picture (excluding the current division winners) is as muddy as ever.

Starting with the AFC, the East is at a deadlock with Miami, New England and the New York Jets all tied for first place. Pittsburgh and Baltimore are only separated by a game in the North, who play each other this week. Tennessee has clinched the South, but those sneaky Colts seem very intriguing.(Shh! Don’t tell anybody but they’ve won 6 straight). And lets not even talk about the dismal West.

Now you can say all you want about New England and New York in the East, but you can’t say enough about the Miami Dolphins. No team has done what they have done thus far, turning a former 1-15 team into a legitimate playoff contender. And most give the credit to Bill Parcells,

NFL Power Rankings Week 16: Comparing Teams to Christmas Holidays

NFL Power Rankings Week 16After the exciting week 15 of NFL, here I’m ready with NFL Power Rankings for Week 16.

We have been digesting the well known fact about Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints, which still remains on top in power rankings since long time.

This time, Vikings did good job on comparison with previous rankings. Expectations were really high on Green Bay Packers to be in top 5, but they could not stand upon. The unfortunate news about Dallas cowboys is about their shut down step towards NFL Playoff. I feel, it is tough for them to give important mark for this NFL regular season.

Jacksonville Jaguars are in 15 as of now which may fluctuate soon. How ever, they are not going to be competitors to Titans.

Finally, the worst team in the NFL is St. Louis Rams. Well, let us have a look over NFL Power Rankings for week 16:

(1) Indianapolis Colts

Falcons at Saints: Monday Night Football Picks

Divisional matchups have been the order so far this season on Monday Night Football and this week the Atlanta Falcons are in New Orleans to close off the Week 8 NFL betting card. It’s the first meeting of the season for these two NFC South rivals who split the series in 2008 with the home side winning each contest straight-up and against the spread.

The undefeated Saints (6-0) are one of only two remaining team in the league with a perfect record after the Denver Broncos lost on Sunday in Baltimore (Indianapolis (7-0) is also perfect after an 18-14 win vs. San Francisco). You can check all of Sunday’s scores and recaps at ESPN.com

For the sports betting community, if you are looking at betting on an undefeated team this late in the season, it means you’re going to be laying points, probably a lot of them. That is the case in this matchup, as the online sportsbooks pegged the Saints as double-digit favourites.

Nfl ? All-time Scoring Record Holder Morten Andersen Retires

The Danish kicker and NFL all-time leading scorer of 48 years-old Morten Andersen, made known his retirement this December 8th 2008, due to his knee problems, which have affect him over this past years. Andersen, who did not play in the current season, told the press he was trying to get another contract with an NFL team, but he realized that he wasn’t the same and that he could not train now the way he use to. The Danish announced his departure of the NFL in his hometown, Copenhagen, after 25 years of professional career in the American football.

Morten started his football career at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis in 1977 as an exchange student. His first season as a kicker with Ben Davis was so remarkable that he received a scholarship in Michigan State University in 1978. At Michigan, the Danish kicker achieved numerous records including a 63-yard field goal in the Big Ten Conference. After

2009 Nfl Pro Bowl Snubs and Notables

Now, the game may be absolutely meaningless, and it is probably one of the most boring games in sports, but the NFL Pro Bowl is an honor for players to be selected into. The official Pro Bowl rosters were released Tuesday, and there are a fair share of snubs to make cases for, and a number of notables to be congratulated.

AFC Notables

Andre Johnson, WR, Houston Texans

Even with the inconsistency at the quarterback position this season due to injury, Andre Johnson has come back to his form of two years ago. He has been the focal point of the Texans offense, and just came off of a colossal game against the Tennessee Titans in which he caught 11 passes for 207 yards and a touchdown. He is currently leading the league with 1,408 yards receiving.

Chris Johnson, RB, Tennessee Titans

This explosive rookie running back came into the league considered a reach in the NFL draft. Looking back on it, the Titans are considered

6 Fascinating Stories Behind the Names of Six NFL Teams

Have you ever seen any pirates while spending time in Tampa Bay? In all probably, you have not. The regional pirate legends influenced the team becoming the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A special board reviewed 400 team name options, before settling on “Buccaneers.” Each NFL has a story behind its name. While the origin of some names is self-explanatory, others are more storied or obscure:

1. Chicago Bears

In 1921, the Decatur Staleys moved to Chicago, Illinois. Chicago already had a baseball team named the cubs. So owner George Halas chose “Bears” instead, as football is a much more rugged sport than baseball is.

2. Cleveland Browns

A man named Paul Brown served as the Browns’ first head coach and general manager. The original Browns team later moved to Baltimore (1996), becoming the Baltimore Ravens. Three years later (1999), a new Cleveland Browns emerged as an NFL expansion team.

3.

Northshore Dentist Fits Saints Players With Special Mouthguards

Last September, Dr. Moreau was invited, along with six other general dentists from New Jersey to Miami, to join the New Orleans Saints at their practice facility for a two-day workshop.

But instead of working on skilled positions as you might expect of a group of NFL players, this group was focusing on jaw positions. The doctors, all trained in neuromuscular dentistry, were there to help fit Saints players with Pure Power Mouthguards (PPMs).

The custom mouthguards are based on neuromuscular dentistry techniques originally developed to help patients who have jaw joint, or TMJ, disorders.  PPM’s have been shown to improve athletes’ strength, balance and range of motion.  Proponents of the PPMs include the likes of NBA player Shaquille O’Neal and golfer Scott McCarron.  The New Orleans Saints are the first NFL team to be fitted.

On Monday and Tuesday, September 21st and 22nd, Dr. Moreau and his colleagues used advanced computer
