Michael Vick – Pit Bulls and the NFL

Former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick was convicted of financing a dog fighting ring at his home in  Atlanta in 2007. In 2001 Vick and three friends started the “Bad Newz Kennels”, shortly after Vick, the number one draft pick, signed with the Falcons. There were 51 pit bulls taken from the property.

In most states, pit bulls seized from dog fighting rings are euthanized because they are too dangerous to be adopted as pets. All the dogs taken from Bad Newz Kennels were traumatized, mistreated, neglected and abused. There were also dead dogs on the property. Power in the NFL: Michael Vick

An elementary student who first showed an interest in baseball and basketball, Michael Vick later developed his love of football. Born in June 1980, this Newport News, Virginia native is now the quarterback for the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons.

In his early teens, Vick became involved in football as his choice after-school activity. At that time, he seemingly gave up all other sports in order to concentrate on football. Through high school, his love of football flourished and carried over into his college years. Attending Virginia Teach, Michael Vick gained instant stardom as a collegiate player with 3 rushing touchdowns during his first game. With the help of Vick, the Virginia Tech Hokies enjoyed a phenomenal 11-0 season and secured a seat at the 2000 Bowl Championship Series. Even though they were defeated by Florida, Michael Vick led the team to an impressive comeback after being 21 points down at one point.

2010 Cleveland Browns: NFL Schedules, Predictions and Odds

The rebuilding Cleveland Browns of 2010 will have a shot at winning their first two games of the season at the rebuilding Tampa Bay Buccaneers on September 12th and at home against the young Kansas City Chiefs on September 19th. But from there the 2010 NFL schedule gets very difficult. Cleveland will travel to play the Baltimore Ravens on September 26th in what will likely be a brutal affair as the Ravens are favored at online sportsbooks to win the AFC in Super Bowl odds. That will be followed by an October 3rd home game against AFC North champ Cincinnati. Cleveland will then host the Atlanta Falcons on October 10th. The Falcons are one of the NFL betting favorites at online sportsbooks to win the NFC.

That will be followed up by a game at the Pittsburgh Steelers on October 17th and then a trip to the world champion New Orleans Saints on October 24th. A much needed week 8 bye will follow that trio of games against top playoff contenders. The

NFL Power Rankings Week 17: The Final Countdown

NFL Power Rankings Week 17: Sportsbook Online

No. 1 Indianapolis Colts, 14-1

The Colts are rolling into the playoffs but will not go far without Peyton Manning, as we saw them stumble in the final quarter against the Jets without their star quarterback at the helm. The Colts should have gone for the undefeated season. Yesterday stunk for all Colts fans, as he game against the Jets was just silly. I am glad that the Jets were able to beat the second string of the Colts. Hooray.

No. 2 San Diego Chargers, 12-3

The Chargers have won 10 in a row and are the hottest team in football not from Indianapolis. These two teams will play for the AFC Championship.

No. 3 Minnesota Vikings, 11-3

The Vikings have had a couple of bad outings, but overall, things look good for Minnesota. If they reach the Super Bowl, they actually have the best chance in their history to win one.

A remarkable player, Brett Favre started in the NFL when legends and superstars played in the game. He competed against, and even bested, some of the premier quarterbacks at the time such as Steve Young, Troy Aikman, Jim Kelly, Dan Marino, and John Elway. All of these players are retired and are members of the NFL Football Hall of Fame. But Brett’s years playing football outlasted them all, allowing him to surpass many NFL records.

College and early NFL years
